Visiting Punta Leona

Golden Reef is located in Punta Leona on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the province of Puntarenas. 90 minutes from the capital city of San José and the Juan Santa Maria international airport, 5 miles from Herradura beach and 10 miles from Jacó beach.

Punta Leona is easily accessible to major attraction areas and commercial centers. There is a main highway under construction called La Costanera, it will link San José to Punta Leona in less than an hour travel time.

Punta Leona is located in one of the last remaining forests found in a transitional zone where the dry forest meets the rainforest bringing together hundreds of wildlife species into the area. The rarity of these transitional forests makes this one of the most important private reserves in the Central pacific Coast. With 20 hectares of primary and secondary forest declare by the government a Wildlife Refuge.

Getting Here

Getting to Costa Rica
Direct flights are available from the United States to Costa Rica from cities like: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta.

Driving

Coming from San Jose take the main highway, Carretera Interamericana, going north towards Puntarenas. The highway will pass the Juan Santa Maria airport. Stay on the Interamericana for an additional 10 to 15 minutes. Take the exit to the town called Atenas, you will see a sign for Hotel Punta Leona, continue following these signs as you go through the towns of Atenas, San Mateo, Orotina, and Tarcóles. The Punta Leona entrance is on the right hand side of the road - about 15 minutes after you pass over the Tarcóles River.
